Michael Richards
Executive Vice President, Senior Advisor
Mike Richards is executive vice president and is a member of State Street’s Executive Committee, the company’s senior-most strategy and policy-making body. Mike serves as Senior Advisor to our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ron O’Hanley, and to members of the Executive Committee, as it relates to firm-wide governance of regulatory matters and broader emerging risks, as well as to anticipated changes to the complex risk and regulatory environment we operate in. He is also responsible for a variety of subject areas that are managed through the Office of the CEO, including oversight of our enterprise Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Previously, Mike was chief administrative officer (CAO) at State Street. One of his primary responsibilities was to handle the center-led First Line Business Risk and Controls Program. In addition, he was the Executive Committee sponsor for various enterprise Transformation Work Streams. He also assisted the CEO’s Office in overall administration of Executive Committee and corporate governance activities. Prior to the CAO role, he served as Chief Auditor at State Street Corporation.
Before joining us in June 2014, Mike was a partner at Ernst & Young and was responsible for managing its Banking and Capital Markets practice in the United States. Before that, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen. He has 30 years of experience in auditing and consulting for public financial services companies and in providing advisory services, including risk management, and regulatory compliance services, to clients in the global banking and financial services industry. He is a certified public accountant.
Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors for Project Bread, a Massachusetts based non-for-profit focusing on ending food insecurity in Massachusetts. He is chairman of the Finance Committee.
