James Ferrarelli
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, State Street Global Advisors

James Ferrarelli is executive vice president and chief operating officer of State Street Global Advisors, the investment management arm of State Street Corporation. As chief operating officer, he is responsible for technology, operations, risk and oversight of the global business operations supporting State Street Global Advisors’ clients. James is also a member of State Street Global Advisors’ Executive Management Group.

He has more than 24 years of experience in the institutional and retail investment management industry, including the areas of technology, digital, transformation, operations and client management.

Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors in 2024, James was Managing Director and Divisional Chief Information Officer for Asset and Wealth Management, and Financial Research at the Charles Schwab Corporation for nine years. Before joining the Charles Schwab Corporation, James spent more than four years at J.P. Morgan Asset Management in New York in multiple senior technology leadership roles. Prior to J.P. Morgan Asset Management, James spent 11 years at Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc., in both London and New York, during which he held several technology leadership roles.

He has been an industry advocate for technology advancement and standardization in Europe and the United States, serving on several industry-affiliated committees and boards.

James earned a Bachelor of Science in computing information systems from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
