Julia McCarthy
Executive Vice President and Head of Client Impact

Julia McCarthy is executive vice president and head of Client Impact for State Street. In this capacity, Julia oversees a team that brings together State Street’s external-facing activities consisting of Marketing, Sustainability, Thought Leadership, Client Service, and Client Administration and Experience. Through service excellence and collaboration, Julia and her global team has accountability for ensuring and influencing a best-in-industry experience for our clients. Prior to this appointment, Julia served as global head of Client Experience and global head of Onboarding.

Julia is a financial services veteran with over 30 years of industry experience across a range of diverse senior leadership roles. Before joining State Street, she held senior leadership roles at Fidelity Investments, where she was responsible for the launch of its entry into expanding workplace health care benefits for employers beyond recordkeeping. Prior to that role, she was head of Workplace Marketing, Solutions and Customer Experience with a focus on product, marketing and experiences driving customer loyalty. Before joining Fidelity, Julia held leadership positions with Affiliated Computer Services and Mellon Financial Corporation. She spent the first eight years of her career in human resources at The Boston Company.

Julia holds several internal leadership positions at State Street, including: executive sponsor of the firm’s Professional Women’s Network, State Street’s largest global employee resource group, focused on inclusion, career development, business acumen, and other professional skills. Julia is also a member of Leading Women, a sponsorship program for senior women across the company; a member of State Street’s North America Benefits Committee and Enterprise Talent Management Committee. Julia takes great pride in mentoring a number of talented employees across the business.

Julia earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Assumption College. Since 2018, Julia has served as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, where from 2020 she has co-chaired the board’s Diversity Council and also volunteers as a mentor.
