Helping our employees help their communities
We have a long tradition of encouraging and supporting our employees' involvement with their local community and civic activities. State Street Global Outreach TM, a company-wide volunteer program launched in 2001, was established to help employees connect with and support their communities in 35 locations and 23 offices around the world.
About our Global Outreach program
The Global Outreach program fosters volunteerism by encouraging participation in company-sponsored programs. It pairs employee volunteers with charitable organizations that match their interests and areas of expertise. Participating employees also have the opportunity to devote two full business days each year to serving their communities (including company-sponsored projects), as well as their personal volunteer priorities. Some volunteer projects are also opened to family members, friends and clients.
Our Global Outreach program has made a difference
In 2010, State Street volunteers and alumni contributed 78,000 hours to 4,900 projects worldwide, saving our charitable partners $1.6 million, based on the hourly wage for volunteers as determined by Independent Sector, a nonprofit and philanthropic advocacy and research group.
Since the launch of State Street Global Outreach in 2001 — and the Spirit of State Street Alumni program in 2003 —employees and alumni have volunteered 430,000 hours to complete nearly 15,600 service projects.
